SHENSEEA: TALKS NEW ALBUM

By: Malik Pollard

Shenseea’s album “Alpha” released in March 2022 reached high acclaim. For a freshman album, she had a remarkable amount of collaborations and features that included: Tyga, Megan Thee Stallion, 21 Savage, Sean Paul, Offset, Beenie Man, and more. That is no slouch roster of talent, and is rarely seen for a freshman on the music scene. However, Shenseea is no new comer and had been laying down musical roots in Jamaican Dancehall since 2016. Back in 2020, Shenseea openly admitted that she had a difficult time getting other artists (especially female) to collaborate with her. Look at what a difference two short years make. Shenseea is having no problems now with getting A-List artists and producers to step into the studio with her. Maybe it was her ‘breaking the net’ photos in a scorching “like Scotch Bonney Peppers” hot photos in a Jamaican Bikini that grabbed the worlds attention. Her post proved popular with fans and celebrities alike, racking up 600,000 likes in one day. Hip Hop mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs (or is it Love Combs) dropped a fire emoji; Or maybe its a credit to her label Rich Immigrants and Interscope Records allowing her to work with different producers and artists to expand her sound and reach. We like the Jamaican Bikini storyline better (lol).

Since dropping her first album “Alpha”, Shenseea has continued to work with some of the biggest artists in Hip Hop, R&B, and Dancehall. She currently just wrapped up a feature on Fireboy DML’s single “Diana” with singer Chris Brown.

At the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, @MadFlavorTV had an opportunity to catch up with the sexy Jamaican Bombshell and we asked her about new music, what we can expect from the new album. Shenseea also was quick to let us know how Nicki Minaj is one of her musical icons and her excitement to see her at this years’ VMAs.
