WHY DO WE LOVE THE BLACK MUSIC HONORS?
Yonden Lhatoo Once wrote, “let’s appreciate the people we usually ignore and spread the word about how awesome they are before they die, not after.” If for no other reason, this is why we love BMH. Black Music Honors appreciates African American Artists and Musicians who have influenced and made significant contributions to American music. For the past four years, Black Music Honors has produced a two-hour special that applauds some of the greatest musical performers, and “WE ARE ALL FOR IT!”
September 5th will be no different as some of the most chart topping artists will be honored at the Cobb Energy Center in Atlanta Georgia for their contributions in music and entertainment. The 4th Annual Black Music Honors produced by Central City Productions will celebrate a diverse music lineage by honoring artists:
Xscape who will receive the Urban Music Icon Award for the platinum selling quartet group’s 25 years in the industry. Xscape not only produced hit after hit after hit, but they were also trendsetters redefining the style and culture amongst girl groups. They showed the world how to “Lay back kick it and enjoy the ride.”

Yolanda Adams will receive the Gospel Music Icon Award. Also known as The Queen of Contemporary Gospel Music, Yolanda Adams is credited for being one of the first Gospel artists to Bridge the gap between Gospel and mainstream contemporary music.
Freddie Jackson, will receive honors for a career that has spanned over 33 years, and has been nominated for multiple Grammy’s throughout his reign as one of R&B’s greatest voices in music

Also receiving Honors are: Tamia, and Arrested Development. Television and radio personality Rickey Smiley and Grammy Award-winner and actress LeToya Luckett return as co-hosts of this year’s Black Music Honors. Moreover, Black Music Honors allows you/us to join in the party. That’s right, this is a show that you can call your own and be a part of…and if you are not able to come and be a part, don’t fret, the show will air n broadcast syndication Sept. 14 – October 20, 2019.

2019 Trumpet Awards
As brass instruments go, the Trumpet has the highest register of all instruments in the brass family. A register is the “height” or range of a note. So there is no wonder why one of the greatest Jazz legends Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong played the trumpet. It is also no wonder why Civil Rights leader, and broadcasting pioneer, Xernona Clayton when creating her foundation and annual awards ceremony named it The Trumpet Awards; an awards ceremony that recognizes individuals and/or groups who augment the richness of the global society by partnering with the cause of justice and equality of all.
